Yassine Filali was born to be a scientist, playing in his father’s lab when he was six-years-old, making soap. “I was surrounded by research growing up. I would follow my dad to the lab here at Iowa and we’d run my own experiments.”

Adele Stewart, PhD, Pharmacology
Hometown: Dixon, Illinois
In 8th grade, Adele wrote an essay on where she pictured herself in 20 years. At her desk on the second floor of the Biomedical Science Building, she smiled and recalled what she wrote.
